About Me: I founded and run Frogpond Studios a sound recording studio specifically geared for kids to experience and enjoy music production and mentoring them towards a career in music, production, management & marketing or performance.

 

I graduated from York University, specializing in microbiology, and performed keyboards and clarinet with several jazz, rock and classical ensembles, writing music and promoting several rock concerts on campus and at the De Grey Rooms, York.

 

I specialize in helping start-up companies and get them on the growth path. My biggest success so far was Accelrys, during my leadership, they became the industry's fastest growing and most prominent supplier of software in their market, with annual revenues exceeding $100m. I also helped transition the company to public ownership where it’s valuation peaked in the ridiculous 90’s to $2.6bn and I planned and managed a highly successful M&A program in which we acquired six or seven smaller companies in addition to buying or licensing-in several related products from industry and academic groups.

 

From 2001 to 2002, I was the President and CEO of OmniViz, a data visualization company. I raised $6m VC money, licensed intellectual property, put the operating team and board of directors together, and gained 30 customers achieving $5m in sales in less than eighteen months.

 

In 2002 I co-founded Wavemark Inc. moving it from concept to it’s first customer. Wavemark uses RFID technology to release value from the medical device supply chain.

 

I am a student mentor for recorded music at a rather unusual high school: Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School, where I have conceived and produced Café Wednesday Collection. I am also the producer on several commercially released CD’s including: Daily Mouse CD, “Gimpy”, Jaded Violin, The Gangsters, Badger, Mr. Greaves.

Academic and coursework includes B.A. honors degree in Biology from the University of York, England and graduate certificate in Administration & Management from Harvard University’s extension school, Signal Processing, Tom Bates; Golden Ears and Critical Listening for Audio Professionals, Dave Moulton; Royal College of Music (grades II through VII), music theory and piano performance; graduate courses: Makers of the Modern Mind, and Abnormal Pyschology at Harvard University.

 

I am an enthusiastic kayaker of both rivers and ocean.
