Bad News About Those "VIP" Taste of Chaos Deals

Uh, yeah. If you bought a "VIP" ticket for Taste of Chaos from someone named "Jennifer Weds"? I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you are not a VIP for the tour, and as a matter of fact, don't even have tickets to it at all, even if you coughed up the requested $95. Although the person who is posing as a member of the promotional marketing team for the 2008 tour, it turns out she has nothing to do with it, and the issue is currently in the hands of the police, who are investigating the scam.

Atreyu stepped up and posted the details of the e-mails that have been sent around to people so you can identify the scam. In other words, if you get one of these, even if it's from someone other than "Jennifer Weds"? Don't fall for it, because it's not legitimate:

Dear ______: You have been chosen to receive two VIP tickets for the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour! Your name will be on the will call list plus one guest. Please be sure to bring a print out of the email and your photo ID when picking up your tickets. Will Call will be open one hour prior to showtime. Have a great time and keep rockin!

Others letter are more specific and say within the body:

"receive two VIP tickets for the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour 2008 in Denver, CO on February 29th, 2008. Your name will appear on IDIOT PILOTS guestlist. Please bring a valid photo id."... " This guestlist spot is valid for you PLUS ONE GUEST"

It's sad that people have nothing better to do than try to scam people in this way... but it's also sad that people fall for scams. Not to mock people who are out $95 too much, but did you also give your bank account number to that nice man from Nigeria who is going to give you a sweet cut of a few million dollars, so long as you hold on to it for him for a while?

Okay. Let's see if I have this straight. Atreyu got a pretty big following, then signed to a major label and have been pretty successful with said endeavor. Okay. What's next? A member launching his own clothing line, of course! Guitarist Dan Jacobs has launched ROKK clothing, because, apparently, he saw a need to "make it easy and cheap to get vintage style t-shirts again." I'm sure it had nothing to do with every punk-type band member in the world having some sort of clothing company or record label... nothing at all.

The band's major label debut, Lead Sails Paper Anchor found itself soundly in the top ten of the Billboard charts, debuting at #8. They also snagged #1 on Billboard's Rock and Hard Rock charts.

Atreyu is Filming Thursday Night's Concert

The band is playing at Soma in San Diego on Thursday, August 30th and they will be filming the show -- something the band rarely does. Also, their new album, Lead Sails Paper Anchor is in stores today, and the band will be doing some in-store appearances to support it.

Alex Varkatzas suffers from depression and anxiety issues, but decided, when working on his new album, to stop taking his medication. As a result, he recently revealed, "I lose my mind a couple times a day now..." Yeah, like I said. Don't try this at home.

I get what they did with this video, and I like it, but I'm forever going to refer to it as "The Running of the Atreyu" and giggle a little bit because I just find the idea of a crowd running from the band amusing.
