Today's Cover Battle! The Cure Versus Fall Out Boy

This morning, I've put together a battle for you guys that I feel really strongly about. Not only is the song one that is on my shortlist for "best song ever written," and by one of my favorite bands -- but I have very strong feelings about who the rightful winner of this battle should be. Nonetheless, because this is what I do, I'm handing it over to the floor to debate, vote, and figure out who the rightful winner of the "Love Will Tear Us Apart" battle really is.

I now present the evidence:

The Cure:

A cool note on this cover: I remember when it was recorded, for Triple J radio. They actually had a contest and the tambourine is being played by a fan of the band. That's pretty awesome, no?

Fall Out Boy:

So... I'm going to keep my thoughts on this under my non-exisent hat for the moment. There is good and bad in both, but one is clearly the winner of this battle. And as is always the case, there can only be one winner, so vote early, and vote often, using the comments.

Anyone who was looking forward to a nice autumn Cure tour can now officially look forward to an early summer tour, as the band has rescheduled their North American tour dates for May and June.

With their double album on its third postponement, it's barely shocking that the band has pushed all their autumn dates back to April and May of 2008. They sent out a message explaining why they had to do this. It seems nothing is well in the Cure camp right now....

The Cure's New Album Delayed Again

We're now on delay number three for this album, which was most recently slated for an October release. It now looks like it will be next May, which pushes it back an entire year. And the worst part is, the reasons are more depressing than any song Robert Smith has ever written.
