Pete Doherty Did Not Pass D.A.R.E.

In case the picture didn't tip you off, Pete Doherty likes to do drugs. The Babyshambles singer admitted to suffering a heroin relapse last week and is now planning a trip to rehab. While many of today's pop stars check into rehab after they're caught doing a Jagerbomb, you know that if Pete Doherty is going, it's the real deal.

For those who don't know, Doherty has a long history of drug abuse. In fact, I can't believe Pete was off drugs long enough for this to be considered a relapse. That's a start, no? Also, unlike many celebrities who become famous for acting crazy and going to rehab, Pete started off by having a music career and then added the public craziness later on. So you have to respect the man, even in these tough times.

I don't get it. Heroin is like the worst thing ever, and yet people keep using it. Heroin must have the same publicist as Larry the Cable Guy.

[PS - I'm not sure if everyone knows what D.A.R.E. is. It stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. They make you take it in elementary school, at least my school did. It teaches methods like the "cold shoulder" and "broken record" to help kids say no to drugs. It also works for picking up chicks, though I doubt that was ever the intention.]

Pete Doherty 'Embarrassed' About Missing Shows
The newly clean and sober Pete Doherty has recently been talking to the press about life before and after rehabilitation. Concerning all the shows he missed at the height of his drug addictions, he said he can't even remember missing the shows, which makes it difficult for him to think too much about them. Nonetheless, he's admitted he is embarrassed about the shows he did miss and feels bad about the fans missing out.
The Most Stylish Male Musicians of the Past 50 Years?
GQ did all of us gentlemen a favor by cobbling together a list of the 50 most stylish men of the past 50 years. Because musicians are often ones to make daring use of style, they included a handful of singers and strummers. Now we've pared that down into a musicians only list and GQ's selections have been ranked based on little more than my own opinion.

News

You may not agree with every single selection (we didn't either), but most of these dudes are tried and true style icons - so dig in.

Pete Doherty's Court Sentencing Postponed... Again
Pete was originally to be sentenced on September 4th, and that sentencing was postponed until tomorrow, October 2nd. Now, it has been postponed again -- this time, until October 26th.

News

It is believed the postponement is due to issues with the court, rather than any requests from Pete Doherty or his representatives. The judge has said Pete will be sentenced to community service or prison, depending on reports from the doctors at his rehabilitation center.
New Video From Babyshambles
Holy crap! News about Babyshambles that actually relates to music? Alas, it is true, as the band has released a video for the second single off Shotter's Nation, "French Dog Blues." And you can watch the video right here.
Pete Doherty Looking For a House in the Country?
While reports have surfaced that the rest of the guys in Babyshambles are trying to record songs so they have them on hand if Pete gets sent to jail next week, another logical story has made the papers, as well. Apparently, Pete has asked his managers to find him a nice house in the country so he can focus on staying sober and not fall back into his partying ways in London.

I don't know what to believe right now. After all, the tabloids told us all last week that Pete was moving in with Shane MacGowan, having lunch with Courtney Love, and sending dead mice to Kate Moss. All from rehab.

Pardon me for thinking he wants to have a nice house in the country seems a bit strange....
Pete Doherty Supposedly Gifts Kate Moss With a Dead Mouse
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend" kind of sounds like "Dead mice are a girl's best friend," so I can see how he got confused when choosing a gift for his estranged girlfriend.

To make this story all the more special, reportedly, the gift was inspired by walking train wreck Courtney Love, who has denied knowing the singer.
Tracklisting and Cover Art for Libertines' Best Of
I have to be honest... I liked this band as much as anyone, but is there really a need for a "Best of" album from a band that only released two studio albums, and only broke up a few years ago? I know they have a ton of officially unreleased material... why not capitalize on that, instead of throwing together an album that doesn't have anything on it even a fairly casual fan doesn't already have? I know the reunion show was popular, but... come on.
Courtney Love Denies Dating Pete Doherty
Man, these MySpace rambles she offers up are absolutely priceless.
Pete Doherty: The Busiest Man in Rehab
Either that, or the tabloids are just having a great time making crap up while he's away and not actually doing anything. Supposedly, in the last few days, he's arranged an apartment with Shane MacGowan, written a song for Amy Winehouse, and been given a day pass from rehab to go have a meal with Courtney Love.
