The other day, Chris Cornell claimed the Audioslave breakup was due to creative differences. But now, a friend of Cornell's has revealed that there might have been a simpler explanation... cash.

"Chris was unhappy with the financial arrangement within the group - he wrote all the music, yet the other three band-mates took an equal share in the multi-million-dollar publishing rights," said this friend.

Woah, hold up. "All the music???" I own all three Audioslave CD's, and let me tell you, Cornell did not write the guitar riffs on at least half those songs. If he did, he should get a job as the World's Greatest Tom Morello Impersonator. Morello is the most distinguishable guitar player of our generation, and it's 100% obvious when something is written by him. The dude can piss on a guitar and make it sound like the solo in "Stairway to Heaven." Cornell may have written all the lyrics, but there are other things that count as "the music."

Two more things: First off, what kind of friend is this guy? And finally, is anyone else picturing Cornell doing a Rasheed Wallace impression? "Cut the check!! CUT THE CHECK!!!"
