The bassist for Sonic Youth had some choice words when asked why the band is releasing a tribute compilation through Starbucks. It turns out that she thinks the coffee shop-cum-record store is "less evil" than SY's main label, Geffen (which is part of Universal).
The video (which can be viewed here) was taken at New York's Fashion Week. The question was appropriate as everybody (and their mother) has been asking why Sonic Youth would choose to do business with Starbucks for Hits Are for Squares.
In related news, Thurston Moore plays a show tonight in Brooklyn.
