A couple weeks ago, it was reported that someone broke into the Tupac Foundation in Atlanta, defaced property, and left a noose around the neck of a Tupac statue.
Today, police have charged a man in the incident. 43-year old Kenneth Anthony Wilson, an African-American, has been charged with the felony of second-degree criminal damage. Be honest, you were expecting a redneck, right? Yeah, me too. It turns out the alleged "noose" was a piece of rope with a cross on it that Wilson hung around a bronze statue of Tupac. Police say there was never any evidence that the crime was racially motivated.
People, we have to stop the black-on-bronze crime! Actually, this might not be your run-of-the-mill statue vandalism. The evidence points to Wilson being messed up in the head. I know, obviously anyone who vandalizes the Tupac Foundation is messed up in the head, but this guy could be legitimately retarded, as in, like, special helmet and shoes retarded. He's 43 years old, he left messages all over the Foundation about Hurricane Katrina and 9/11, and he attempted two break-ins in the same weekend. These are not the actions of a sane man.
So, in summation, the pros and cons of this incident:
Cons
-Property was damaged
-Racial tensions were tested
-A legend was disgraced
-Al Sharpton missed his weekly golf game
Pros
-Ended up not being a hate crime
-No permanent effects
-Guilty party has been arrested
-Served as my weekly reminder to watch the "Changes" video
Here, watch with me, and try to learn something...
