Chris Cornell just released his second solo album, Carry On, last Tuesday. In his 20+ year career, Cornell has fronted three bands and released over a dozen albums. While he is best known for huge hits such as "Black Hole Sun," "Hunger Strike" and "Cochise," it is Cornell's total body of work that makes him great. Some of his lesser-known songs are just as good - if not better - than his hits.

Here are Chris Cornell's ten most underrated songs, spanning from his Soundgarden days to the present.

10) "Rusty Cage" - From Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger album

From Soundgarden's pre-Superknown, more aggressive days.

9) "Turn to Gold" - Audioslave B-Side

I'll never understand how this didn't make it onto Audioslave's first CD.

8) "Superunknown" - From Soundgarden's Superunknown album

The title track of Superunknown was also one of the album's standout songs.

7) "Shape of Things to Come" - From Audioslave's Revelations album

Because the band broke up and did very little press for its final album, Audioslave's Revelations remains somewhat under-the-radar (at least as under-the-radar as Chris Cornell and the guys from Rage could possibly be).

It was a toss-up between this and "Somedays." Here is the song, set to clips of Miami Vice. It was the only thing available, sorry.

6) "The Day I Tried to Live" - From Soundgarden's Superunknown album

Some classic Cornell screaming on this song.

5) "Can't Change Me" - From Cornell's solo album, Euphoria Morning

Cornell's first solo album was only a moderate success, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a great song.

4) "Dandelion" - From Audioslave's Out of Exile album

Audioslave's debut got all the attention, but Out of Exile is the best album the band put out.

3) "Let Me Drown" - From Soundgarden's Superunknown album

This is the third song on the list from Superunknown, which just goes to show what a ridiculously good album it is. I would argue this is the best song on the album. And the album had five singles (this wasn't one).

2) "Call Me A Dog" - From Temple of the Dog

It's pretty tough to screw up an album that features members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. This slow song was a great compliment to the more well-known, upbeat songs like "Hunger Strike" and "Reach Down."

1) "Pretty Noose" - From Soundgarden's Down on the Upside album

Coming off an album (Superunknown) that featured five singles and went down as one of the best of the decade, Soundgarden had to lead off Down on the Upside with something incredible. They did.
