It's the day before Thanksgiving and here in New York, it's cool and rainy. After work, I have to secure my headphones to my head with superglue, immerse myself in the new Say Anything album -- which I have listened to pretty much non-stop since it came out -- and face the supermarket crowds. Why? Because I was too lazy to figure out what to cook for Thanksgiving until today. As such, I would much prefer to catch you guys up with the latest music news.
We start out with bad news: Ellison is the latest band to be victims of the country's roving gangs of band thieves. The band's trailer was stolen. The silver lining is their gear wasn't in the trailer, but they did lose all their merchandise, as well as the trailer. If you're around Cincinnati or Mason, OH, be on the lookout for their trailer. There are photos of it here.
Remember Dashboard Confessional's tour-exclusive covers album, The Wire Tapes Volume 1? Well, if you didn't get it on tour, the band has made it available online for a limited time.
Plain White T's are pandering to the kiddies this December when they will be appearing on some Nickelodeon show called iCarly. They'll be playing themselves. It will probably be pretty amusing, as is always the case when bands end up on kids' shows.
A Thorn For Every Heart has posted some cryptic messages saying they will announce both new music and new members "very soon." They also apologize for keeping people in the dark... but hey. I guess you have to do that sometimes, as a band.
Kevin Call, bassist of Comeback Kid, has announced his current tour with the band will be his last, as life has "called him to go on in a different direction." He wrote a nice post about the band, to say goodbye to the fans. There is no word what the band plans to do, though it is safe to assume they will find a new bassist, what with that being a pretty essential instrument.
thgecastingout, meanwhile, has added a new guitarist by the name of Kevin Spacht. Due to Josh's injuries, he will not be able to tour with the band, but is still a part of the band in terms of writing, recording, and possibly playing some shows when he can. The band says they have three guitarists, as such. They have also added Dana Dillulo as a keyboardist. I'm pretty sure they're competing with the Polyphonic Spree for number of members at this point; do they need someone who plays tambourine?
And... that's what's going on right now. Happy Thanksgiving and stuff!
