Prince is attacking the owners of three Prince fan sites. I'm no marketing genius, but that seems like a bad idea. Apparently Prince's lawyers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the sites housequake.com, prince.org and princefams.com requesting that they take down any photographs of the singer, including official photographs, fan-submitted concert photos, and... wait for it... pictures of people with Prince tattoos. Lawyers also insisted they provide "substantive details of the means by which you [the fansites] propose to compensate our clients."
The three site owners, who clearly don't know when to quit, have banded together to create a new site, PrinceFansUnlimited.com. On the site, they issue a challenge to Prince to reconsider his position, and declare that they are prepared to defend themselves in court if necessary.
The site owners believe that Prince is doing this to help eliminate criticism against him. If that's his plan, he might want to consider blowing up the entire Internet.
Now, some people might consider this a dick move by Prince, but I support the man. I know what it's like. There used to be this website dedicated to my greatness called TomZisaFuckingGod.com. Seems cool, right? Well, I had problems with it. For starters, it had a picture of me taken from my left side, and since my right side is my good side, I specifically only allow pictures taken from that angle. I've made this very clear, and I don't know why people don't listen. Also, I didn't like the URL name they were using. I'm always thinking about the kids, and TomZisaFuckingGod.com sends the wrong message. Too many kids were confusing me with the Biblical God, and that's no good, cause I'm losing major pub. So, long story short, I had to have the site shut down. I'm considering allowing it to re-launch in 2008, but keep in mind, I never wrote a song like "Darling Nikki," so I have to be a little more lenient than Prince.
