Dre explained the situation, "Trust me, this will be worth the wait, I'm trying to make this the one they remember me for. It's a lot of pressure but I'm feeling good about it. I feel like I'm my worst critic and if I'm loving it, everyone else will. I'm tryna put 12, 13 songs on the album. I'm not totally sure about the month but it will be definitely be out this year."
The album, to be titled Detox, has gained near mythic status amongst a certain breed of Internet rap dork (get those hands up high!) since Dre first mentioned it in 2000. It was scheduled for release in 2004, but reports at the time had Dre abandoning all work on the project. Hopes were raised late last year when Dre underling Bishop Lamont mentioned that the album could be released in 2007.
During the interview Dre mentioned that he's attempting to fit everyone he's ever worked with on the album along with a few protégés such as Lamont and Slim Mobster.
And with that, let the great Detox versus Chinese Democracy office pool begin.
