The band has been at it for 14 years and...14 years!!! I'm getting old...
After their previously-reported-upon summer dates, they're hanging it up. LiveDaily reports:
The 14-year-old group will call it quits at the end of the summer tour season, a move that follows last November's announcement that guitarist and principal member Billy Nershi would be leaving "to pursue other musical projects," according to the band's website.
"Presently, there are no plans for The String Cheese Incident beyond summer of 2007," the group wrote on its website recently. "The band would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our friends and fans for all your support."
Alright, it might be time to try out some new stuff, but really? These solo efforts always end up sucking major ass (see: Phish).
I grew up in Colorado and have seen Cheese many a time; it would be a shame if they gave up to pursue some crappy side projects. I mean I'm not the biggest fan anymore, but something tells me their individual efforts would be far worse than their current deal. Also, if they break up, a part of my childhood dies and that, well, sucks.
