Faithful fans around the world dug up their old Spice albums — if they've
kept them, that is — last month when the Spice Girls announced their
return to the pop arena for a world tour in eight countries.
Now, Victoria Beckham insists that the reunion world tour will be the last we’ll ever see of the Spice Girls.
“This is the last opportunity that anybody is gonna get to see us as a group because that will be it," she said.
A reconciliation to those who had enough of them the first time around.
The BRIT Award-winning English all-female pop band, featuring Sporty,
Scary, Posh, Ginger and Baby, split up in 2000. With cliché mottos like
“girl power” and warm fuzzy messages about loyal female friendship, the
group become an international phenomenon after the 1996 release of
their debut single, “Wannabe”.
Funny that the reason they broke up is that Posh could not get along
with her fellow friends/bandmates. Lesson learned here: practice what
you preach. And if you can’t, then don’t preach at all.
Obviously not having learned the latter, the girls are scheduled to
revive the concept of Spice in the United States, England, Germany,
Spain, China, Hong Kong, Australia, South Africa, Buenos Aires, and
Argentina, with the first tour this December.
But is the world ready to handle the “wannabe” singers again?
And will the Spice Girls really uphold their promise to become a memory
after that? Or will they look into reviving their fantabulously
appalling movie Spiceworld next?
Let us hope not. They might not be the brightest gals around, but
they have to have figured out by now that some things must never be
revived.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to learn that lesson after being honored with the “Worst Actress Award” at the 1999 Golden Raspberry Awards, after all.
