The Hives Are Prisoners Now

Remember when you were crime, and they were law? Well, now things have changed, and the band is in a situation where they are "prisoners to our own creativity."

The band has released the following statement concerning their new album, The Black and White Album:

This new album has been recorded all over the world because we thought it was time to have other people involved besides ourselves and our closest friends.

At times it has felt like we are prisoners to our own creativity and that it is taking a long time. At this time we have a lot of songs. In the past we only had what was on each album. We ask you to bear with us as we take the time to wrestle this onto an album.

Some of the people involved in this album include Pharrell Williams and Jacknife Lee, though a good portion of the band's recording time has been spent in Oxford, MS, where they have been working with Dennis Herring. Herring is known for his work with Modest Mouse.

I'd expect a more mainstream sound from these guys this time around, especially considering their upcoming tour with Maroon 5. There's no other way to explain that.
