And he wants some Ghostface collabo action. Jimmy Tamborello, a.k.a. Dntel, a.k.a. the production half of the Postal Service recently let fly with some gossip concerning the group's sophomore outing while promoting his solo album Dumb Luck, which is due out in April.
The producer told MTV News that he and his partner in the Postal Service Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie have about six tracks laid out for the new album, which they hope to release later this year. He made sure not to reveal too concrete a timeline, however, and explained, ""If we don't make the deadline we set for ourselves, we can extend it. Sub Pop has never given us a deadline, and we're trying our best to make it in the same environment we made the first one: We have to keep reminding ourselves that we're doing it for fun and trying to keep things casual."
Tamborello also said that so far the new Postal Service material is strictly his and Gibbard's work, but he did have one particular guest spot in mind: "A long time ago, I heard that Ghostface Killah liked 'Such Great Heights,' and when we started this one, we were talking about figuring out some way to get a hold of him. If there were some way to work him into the album, it would be excellent. But we'll see about that."
