Just like that, the band announced that Fred has quit the band in order to fully dedicate himself to his solo project, The Color Fred. While he's been working on his solo work for some time [his debut album hits stores on October 30th], the announcement that he was leaving the band came out of nowhere.

Meanwhile, Taking Back Sunday's Louder Now Part 2 CD/DVD package hits stores on November 20th.

The band is going to simply carry on, and get back to working on an all-new Taking Back Sunday album which they say is in "its very early stages." They wished Fred well, though he didn't make a statement. The band's motto? "No drama. Just riffs."

I tend to think the rather nonchalant manner in which this was announced means there was a lot of tension brewing under the surface. I don't think we'll be getting any venom akin to what From Autumn To Ashes has been known to express about a certain ex-member, we might see some brutal honesty down the line.

Or, who knows? Maybe it really is amicable and the best we'll get is a bit of giggling at the notion that a project called The Color Fred could ever be bigger than Taking Back Sunday. Time will tell....
