His issues with My Chemical Romance? "Too poppy." His love for Fall Out Boy? He's seen them live and "they put on a great show." Now, I like both bands, and I think both do a great show -- but certainly we're all in agreement that Fall Out Boy is 10,000 times more pop than My Chemical Romance, no?
Ian was speaking to the UK newspaper the Metro about the Kerrang! awards [results forthcoming] which happened earlier tonight in London when he revealed his secret emo passion, saying, "Fall Out Boy are going [to the K! Awards] which is cool because I'm friends with them. People might not expect me to like them but I've seen them twice and they put on a great show. If things go south at least I'll have someone on my side."
He then went on to ramble aimlessly about My Chemical Romance, saying "Bands such as My Chemical Romance aren't the sort of things I listen
to because they are too poppy for me. I love a good pop song
but for me that's something like Cheap Trick. I loved them when I was
growing up so that set the bar high for me. I'm not into this newer
version. Not even on the rock side, the crap on MTV. I just don't like
those noises that come out of my TV."
As a completely unrelated sidenote, I am trying to figure out where the sheep and/or goat noises that are coming in my window are coming from, as I like those noises and would like to meet any barnyard animals that happen to be in my general vicinity. Which isn't all that common in New York.
Oh, anyway, back to Scott Ian.
01. Respect for being a metal guy who admits you like Fall Out Boy.
02. But come on, you know they're far more pop than My Chemical Romance.
03. Hell, they're almost more pop than Cheap Trick.
04. Cheap Trick??
05. I wonder if he knows/cares how much Mikey Way looks up to him.
Anyway, here's the debate: who is more pop? Fall Out Boy? Or My Chemical Romance?
Go.
