Rather than make a silly retirement announcement, The Rolling Stones have outdone themselves once again by snagging the record for the top-grossing tour in history. The English rock band brought in $558.3 million, which shatters the previous record of $389 million set by U2's Vertigo tour.

That said, it actually started way back in 2005 (two years seems like cheating, right?), soon after the band released "A Bigger Bang" that same summer. The Stones apparently rocked the faces off more than 4.5 million fans in the 144-show trek.

Mick is certainly having a hell of a week seeing as how he's still fresh off the release of his first ever-greatest hits package, which landed in stores this week - plus he's gung ho about the future of the Stones.

Also, if you're upset about missing that record-breaking tour, fear not, The Stones have had you covered since back in June, when their four-disc DVD came out (at Best Buy, of course). Footage will also appear in the upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed Stones documentary , Shine a Light.
