It is very important to note this came from "a source," which could mean my mom made this up, for all we know. Nonetheless, it is currently believed that Pete Doherty was with Amy when she overdosed and collapsed. Here's why I don't believe this: the source claims he left because he didn't want "bad publicity." Since when is Pete Doherty even aware of "bad publicity"?
The source told the Sunday Mirror:
They had a meal and a few drinks. They took a cocktail of drugs called a speedball, it's a mixture of heroin and cocaine. Amy couldn't take it, she is very lucky to be alive. She collapsed when they went back to her flat. Pete left because he didn't want any bad publicity. He didn't know how to deal with it and thought she was dying. She was foaming at the mouth and fitting - Pete had never seen anything like it.
The source then went on about the old rumor that the two got it on months ago, prior to her marriage to Blake, though considering neither have ever confirmed that, who cares? He and she have remained friends, though, and he's often been seen hanging out with both her and husband Blake Civil-Fielder.
At the moment, Pete is in England, in rehab, having had his sentencing for a prior drug offense pushed off another month while he attempts to quit drugs. Amy is in the Caribbean, where people hounding her and her husband, have been taking photographs that show "fresh red sores on her arms," fueling rumors that she is still using heroin, despite vacationing to "detox." Her father-in-law also said there appears to be bruising on her arms that wasn't there before the couple left and told the newspaper he believed the couple was "on the road to hell."
Really, though? Who knows?
Like I said, I refuse to believe any source that claims Pete Doherty didn't do something because he was worried about "negative publicity." That source could tell me the sky was blue, and I'd have to double-check.
