This afternoon, the jury officially confirmed that there was only one thing they could unanimously agree on: their inability to agree. However, Phil Spector is not yet free and clear....
Both the defense and the prosecution will reconvene next Wednesday to discuss what happens next. The jurors have been dismissed and will be able to speak with the press as of this afternoon, should they choose to.
Historically and generally, a mistrial is favorable for the defense, but with this case? Anything is possible.
If I were Judge Fidler, I'd be needing a stiff drink right about now, and possibly some of Phil Spector's medications as well.
