I don't know why he felt the need to share the nose-picking thing, but I do find it interesting that the band has been writing "folky sounding" songs on acoustic guitars on tour -- although Pete has said he has no idea what, if anything, will come of these songs. And yeah, that whole emo thing? Emo is okay by him.
The bassist recently sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about random things. When asked what his new found fame meant to him, he responded, "I can’t pick my nose at stoplights — which I do anyway. That’s what window tints are for.” Nice to know, Pete. Do you eat your boogers as well? The people at Rolling Stone weren't brave enough to ask that, unfortunately, so we'll just have to speculate. [For the record, no, I do not think he does this.]
As for the "folky songs," Pete said:
We just wrote those songs in the back of the bus with an acoustic guitar. I’m not really sure what will happen with them. There’s one about some friends who ended up in crazy strip club in France, which is a cool song.I don't know -- is going to a French stip club emo? Probably not. Also? Weren't the band's new songs supposed to be harder and more metal? Who knows? Anyway, speaking of "emo":
I get what people are saying with the eyeliner and the girl pants and this and that. Hopefully, [emo] is more than just a T-shirt slogan. Hopefully some of us bands are able to grow and become bigger than emo. For a long time, we talked about playing in front of a giant banner that said ‘EMO’.” If you’re emo, you might as well be in on the joke. That's actually a really funny and endearing idea; I think Fall Out Boy should do it! That'd make for some awesome photos. Then again, I'm still holding out for him to play the "Young Wild Things" show in a Max costume, so....
