The police in Avon and Somerset are investigating a photographer's allegations that she was assaulted by Pete Doherty in a shopping center earlier today. You know, it really is getting harder to defend him....
According to the NME, photographer Cath Mead, who was probably stalking the poor guy, was left with bruises and "clumps of hair missing" after the scuffle, which she blames on Pete Doherty. Police have also said her camera was damaged in the incident, which they are currently looking into.
If it is found to be Pete's doing, he will be charged with "common assault," which is pretty much one of the last things he needs. he is currently staying with his aunt right now, waiting to hear his fate on September 4th, when he goes before a judge for sentencing over drug charges.
The only thing I can say in his defense is... it must be pretty hard to live your life, trying to get off drugs and abide by judge's orders with photographers shadowing your every move, hounding you. That doesn't mean beating the hell out of them is right, but at the same time, it's hard to not feel bad for celebrities -- especially the ones who don't ask to be followed 24 hours a day.
But damnit Pete... why can't you just stay out of trouble? Go take a nap or something... take up some new hobbies like video games or chess. Anything... because jail isn't going to be so good to you.
