I'm starting to worry... Jacknife Lee is okay, he's done some good production work. But Pharrell Williams? I was kind of hoping the rock-rap collaboration would have died out after the abomination that was Fall Out Boy and Kanye West....

The band told the NME:

The lion's share of this new album was recorded in Mississippi with producer Dennis Herring. We also met producer Pharrell Williams in Japan a while ago. "He told us: 'We should record together,' and 'something bass guitar based.' We ended up spending some time in Miami making music with him. Some of his music will end up on The Hives' new record.

As a side note, the band is far more interesting when they speak, than when what they said is written down. I like the way they scream with heavy accents... it makes them cooler than anyone else on earth.

There is still no date for the new album, but if you happened upon their collaboration with Timbaland, be at least a little bit afraid....
