British Columbia natives Nickelback have received a prestigious honor in Canada: they are being inducted into the Canada Walk of Fame. It's a long overdue honor that the band has earned by having approximately 7,000 hit singles.
Others being inducted this year include former wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen (no relation to the "Dateline" guy), former hockey star Johnny Bower, anchorman Lloyd Robertson ("Stay classy, Canada!"), actor Gordon Pinsent, Home Alone star Catherine O'Hara (Kevvvvviiinnnn!!!!) and actress Jill Hennessey (the hot chick from "Law & Order" with the man-voice/Mrs. Jason Sehorn). Canada's finest, actor Eugene Levy, will host the ceremony on June 9th in Toronto.
To be inducted, you must have been born in Canada or spent your formative years there. Inductees must also have a proven impact on Canada's cultural heritage. In other words, they don't just whore it out like the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Notable previous inductees include:
Alanis Morissette - Another woman walked on her star and she wrote a catty song about it.
Wayne Gretzky - His was the greatest star of all-time.
Michael J. Fox - His star is great, but it can't stay in one place, it keeps moving around.
Shania Twain - The best looking star in Canada.
Jim Carrey - His star is actually a rhombus (he didn't want it to get pidgeonholed as a star).
Keifer Sutherland - He wasn't supposed to have a star, but he kept cutting off the Prime Minister's fingers one by one until they agreed to give him one. Then, when he saw his star, he yelled "NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!" and demanded a bigger one.
Anyway, congratulations, Nickelback.
[Ed. Note: Jill Hennessey is not married to Jason Sehorn. Angie Harmon is. See comments for clarification.]
