It's not new material, instead, it is -- despite not even being done -- the uncontested, number one strangest mash-up in the history of mash-ups. Are you ready for this?

Gym Class Heroes will be having their 2006 As Cruel as School Children remixed and mashed up with more than 40 tracks by Hall and Oates.

In other news, Hall and Oates recorded at least 40 songs.

DJ J.J. Brown will be doing the remix, which has been described as Travis McCoy's "dream project." It is meant to fill the gap between the album and the band heading into the studio to record new material -- as they don't expect to have time to head into the studio until at least the very end of this year.

More amazingly, DJ J.J. Brown was considering remixing Ludacris with Hall and Oates, so he actually had the materials ready to go when he was approached by the band -- Brown said, of the idea, "the timing was crazy, because we almost did the Ludacris album with Hall & Oates, so we had the stack of records waiting for the next thing."

That's... synchronicity one just does not expect to hear about... ever.

As for Hall and Oates? They're thrilled. They met up with Brown and his partner recently and it went swimmingly. Said Brown, "I was trying not to be star-struck, but whenever I paid them a compliment, they hit us back with five more."

Okay, well I've met my quota of "stories I didn't expect to write this week" with this one, as I think it counts for about five. Expect to hear the remix album by the end of the year.
