Powderfinger is streaming its new single, "Lost and Running," on the band's MySpace site. Singer Bernard Fanning describes "Lost and Running" as "breezy," and fans will notice that it doesn't sound much like anything on the last two albums.
Powderfinger's new album, Dream Days at the Hotel Existence, will be out June 2nd in Australia. If it's not available in the U.S. shortly after that date, I'm going to murder a clerk at Best Buy. That's not a threat; I'm just informing you of what will happen.
"The album title comes from a book, The Brooklyn Follies, by Paul Auster, which I was reading during the recording," Fanning tells The West Australian. "It seemed very appropriate with its ramshackle plot, large cast of characters and escapist idealism. To a bunch of chaps from Brisbane it is very much what Los Angeles can seem like."
So this album is going to be about the band's experiences in Los Angeles, eh? Good. I look forward to a bunch of songs about doing Jager shots at Club Prey and fucking Kirsten Dunst's publicist.
