I really, really love this song. It's such a positive note on the Arrivals and Departures album, which is an album that I liked a lot when it came out, but fully grasped as I went through massive changes over the past few months. I remember putting the CD in my car one day and having this feeling of, "someone wrote an album... that makes perfect sense of everything in my life. How did this happen?"
Anyway, the video completely captures the song, but also, dating in general right now. The whole phone thing, and how integral the phone is to dating. The way both of them always have their phone on them, or close by, and the total disaster of a non-functioning phone... it's a simple truth. Amusingly, I just noticed a text message pop up on my phone, which is, not surprisingly, on my desk. See what I mean?
I like videos like this a lot -- ones that really tell a story, but aren't overdone and ridiculous. Here's hoping this song breaks big for the band... it really is a beautiful and happy song, and deserves to be a hit.
