Producer extraordinaire Ne-Yo was asked for his input on the new Whitney Houston album, and he responded by calling it boring. The Sun (via EntertainmentWise) reports that Ne-Yo was given eight new Houston tracks by music mogul Clive Davis, but didn't like what he heard.

"They all had the one same theme," Ne-Yo explained, "which was ‘My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback'... We all understand she has gone through a lot... I'm sure we all get that but I think she needs songs about regular everyday life. So that's what I'm planning to add to the album - songs about everyday emotions."

The man did pen the biggest hit of 2007 so far (Beyonce's "Irreplaceable"), so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Is it just me, or are writer/producers becoming more important than the actual singer?
