To say that I’m immensely familiar with either of these artists would be a bald-faced lie.  To say that I was well aware of why the term “boo” is used to describe a loved one would be about the same in terms of total, complete and utter fabrications.

But, of course, if I’m going to look into the My Boo Ringtone I’m going to look into the words in the title.  Apparently Boo is stemmed from a racial term used to insult black people.  Now it’s a term of endearment used mostly by black people.  It’s not really surprising since it’s not the first such term to get turned around like that.  It’s probably a good thing to be able to reduce the negativity associated with it and to bring out something that seems purely positive. 

Despite that history of the term though, the song is sweet and surely a hit with young ladies all over the country and of any race.  If you’re not familiar at all, My Boo is a cooperative work by Usher and Alicia Keys.  They are both extremely popular singers and this is their standard high-quality work.  No one should be ashamed to make My Boo their ringtone.
