Some young parent working for Frito-Lay must have caught wind of this new fangled "mashups" thing, because that's what the product and the commercial hinge on.
The ad will apparently feature Missy in the studio working on a mashup while eating the chips. Witty.
Now, a word from Missy's manager on these so-called "mashups":
The whole idea of the mash-up is so prevalent and popular in music today. It's so Missy. And the fact that the campaign takes place in a studio means that Missy remains in her element, which makes the whole thing authentic.
Speaking of Missy in the studio, Melissa has actually been there often this year working on her seventh studio album, The Countdown, with DJ Toomp and Rich Harrison. Here's me being excited about a return to Rich Harrison greatness. The first single from the album is expected sometime soon. Now hit that snooze button.
Oh, not that you hadn't already assumed this, but Doritos is also holding an online contest where participants can create their own mash using a track Missy recorded for the ad, which is not available anywhere else currently.
