It’s amazing how many great songs can leave you scratching your head when you try to think of the composer.  If the song doesn’t have lyrics, or come from a band that almost always includes lyrics, you’ll have to go to a true music guru to find out who wrote and performed even the most famous of compositions.  Likewise, when I say Lalo Schifrin absolutely nothing will come to mind.

But all I’d have to do is whistle a few notes of the iconic theme for the hit spy show Mission:Impossible and you’d immediately recognize the tune.  I don’t know why iconic theme songs and anthems don’t force us to find out who wrote them, but I do know that they are more ingrained in modern culture than the most famous rock songs.

Because of this truth, the Mission Impossible theme ringtone is one of the most popular ringtones in America today.  It’s a great minimalist sound that resonates in your head long after the tune stops sounding.  It’s a classic “song that doesn’t end” scenario.  The mission impossible ringtone is sure going to be one that both delights and annoys those within earshot.
