The Chicago rapper had been signed up to play the August 7 show in the series in his hometown, but McDonald's announced their decision on Friday. According to the Chicago Sun Times, the company released a statement outlining its stance:
McDonald's USA made the decision following concerns raised about the artist's controversial lyrics... Although we respect free speech and artistic expression, we do not condone or perpetuate derogatory language.
The show, which was to take place in a McDonald's parking lot, wouldn't have paid Twista, but was to be broadcast on MTV and online at Yahoo Music.
The Sun-Times speculates that the now infamous "Stop Listening to Trash" billboards, which named Twista and were erected in Chicago by parishioners of St. Sabina Catholic Church, might have had something to do with McDonald's decision.
Hey Ronald, maybe you should have wrapped your head around the "two lips" line from the dude's new single before you signed him up in the first place. Or you know, just Googled the lyrics to his biggest hit:
And when i come ova and bend ya ass/
You be bumpin to the Teddy Pendergrass
I done hit it from the back/
To the melody and rode it slow/
Now I gotta go up in it fast/
But Imma finish last/
No matter how much of a thug you see/
I still spit it like its R&B...
Mmmmm... "Slow Jamz." Anyone else suddenly in the mood for a McGriddle?
