Police arrested country singer/songwriter Mark Collie late Thursday night in Nashville for driving under the influence.
According to published reports, Collie was found slumped behind the wheel of his car on the Vanderbilt University campus just before midnight. The 51 year-old singer allegedly smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.
The police affidavit states that Collie failed a field sobriety test but refused to take a blood alcohol test. He was taken to jail but released on bond.
Collie, who has co-written songs for Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, and George Jones, has focused on his acting career in recent years. He played a drug and booze-addled Johnny Cash in the 1998 short film I Still Miss Someone, and also appeared in the Steven Seagal action flick Fire Down Below. Most recently, in the 2004 film version of The Punisher, Collie played a singing assassin.
We can only hope that he was just doing research for a new role.
