Marilyn Manson has expressed concern that his music will be blamed for the shooting massacre that happened in Virginia earier this week, comparing it to his experience post-Columbine massacre.

According to Contact Music, Manson said:

"I was watching it in the same way that I can remember watching the TV when Columbine happened, and just seeing it take place as any other person would. Then suddenly Columbine happened and my name got brought into it and I wouldn't be surprised if my name got brought into this."

Um, Mr. Manson? I hate to interject here -- but you just brought your own name into it. Slick.

Anyway, I am pretty sure the media is busy blaming video games and movies, so he should be safe. Unless, of course, he was giving quotes like that because he wanted to get some free publicity out of the whole thing. Not that I'm the sort to accuse anyone of such things, but... hey... free promotion is free promotion. I mean, he has an album coming out in June and advertising isn't free....
