He spoke to the UK presenter about Eat Me, Drink Me, the writing process on the new album and how he set out to accomplish things he did not feel he had over the course of his career. Plus, he debuted "Heart-Shaped Glasses".
Concerning some of his changes as an artist, such as him doing more signing, or writing from a more personal place, Manson admitted he put himself out on a limb "instead of being defeated by how I felt. Feeling like there's so much in music doing what I've already done and I didn't know what I wanted to say anymore."
He also tried some new things on this album. When speaking about the first song he worked on for the album, Manson said:
"The first song that I sang on the record was "Just a Car Crash Away", and the performance on the album is the first time I sang it, so I was sort of writing it as I was singing it. It wasn't a point of me thinking well this is wrong or this is real from a production style or any other angle that I did it and I didn't think there was any other reason to do it differently."
Further, he added the first song anyone has heard from the album "If I Was Your Vampire" was the real impetus for the new album -- Manson's first in five years.
