Malaysians Try To Stop Gwen Stefani Concert

A group of Muslim students are trying to stop an upcoming Gwen Stefani concert in Malaysia, calling Stefani "too obscene" for the country.

The concert in question is scheduled for August 21st at Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. The National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students -- an organization of over 10,000 -- is attempting to block the concert because they believe it conflicts with the Islamic beliefs that are prevalent in the area.

Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the president of the organization, told Reuters, "We want the organisers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene."

The movement to ban Stefani was set off by video clips promoting the concert, which the organization considered "too obscene."
