After Kanye said he would never come back to MTV and later complained that MTV was "ruining" Britney Spears, the network decided to say its piece. Here's an excerpt from hiphopdx.com:
MTV has a long and collaborative relationship with Kanye and we hope and look forward to continuing that meaningful relationship. Kanye West is a visionary performer and he didn't let his fans down at this year's VMA's. From his incredible renditions of 'Stronger' and 'The Good Life,' to the spectacular aerial shots from his multi-level suite, which made for one of the grandest visuals of the night, the audience feedback on MTV.com has been overwhelming. In fact, he is the only artist to have three performances ranked in the top 15 on MTV.com.
That was pretty good, but MTV did not feel inspired to stop there. The network's statement went on to address Brit's lackluster performance:
Britney Spears has had so many memorable, high-energy performances at the VMAs over the years and no one wanted to see her succeed more than her MTV fans and MTV.
Beef has officially gotten out of control, but at least it's keeping Kanye in the headlines. Maybe he lost those five silver MTV awards, but he's got plenty of green headed his way after sales for Graduation begin to mount. Keep throwing those fits, we'll keep you in the headlines Kanye.
