The MTV Europe Music Awards, which have next to nothing to do with European music, are scheduled for November 1st in Munich. Although the show is lacking any spectacular "comebacks," will feature a live performance from My Chemical Romance, who were also nominated for two awards. It seems like they do things differently in Europe, with amusing categories -- including the "Ultimate Urban Award," the "Rock Out Award," and "Most Addictive Song," for which Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" was nominated for. Those Europeans are cheeky, no?

[My take: It is hilarious that they have an "Ultimate Urban" award, and while I am not entirely sure what it means, I'm thinking Timbaland will take it because he's a big deal. And at this point, MTV has to love snubbing Kanye West, so he can go cry like a baby when he doesn't win.]

I find it fascinating that the MTV Europe Music Awards pretty much just cover American bands, but at the same time, since when does MTV do anything that actually makes sense? Here in the US, I'm sure we'll be able to catch the show at 2am on MTV2, some Wednesday night when we're suffering insomnia, as is usually the case. After all, you wouldn't want to cut into that show where parents pick their kid's dates....
