Friday in Grant Park, Chicago saw a slew of great bands capped off with one of the best concerts this man has ever seen.

Talkin' bout Daft Punk.

Ghostland Observatory

Making it ultra-weird, GO has a great all-around backing sound. The lead singer (Aaron Behrens)? Not so much. He hurts the band.

Colour Revolt

Personal friends of our very own DirtySouthMouth, Mississippi's Colour Revolt really holds it down. Unfortunately, their set of unique Southern rock was plagued by sound issues (the dude in the booth had to have been around 16 -- get it together, Perry Farrell).

Against Me!

These guys absolutely destroyed my world. Their numbers from their latest, New Wave, really shined. Definitely one of the best shows of the fest.

That exclamation point is there for a reason.

The Rapture

The powers that be (Perry Farrell, I'm looking at you) decided that even though I had a photo pass, they wouldn't let me and my non-$1,500 professional camera in the photo pit. So, I ended up with some photos like this:

Rapture = pretty good; not blowing my box.

LCD Soundsystem

This is where we can start talking about box-blowing. It sure is something to see James Murphy do his thing with an entire band, live. Or at least hear it from across the field while you're waiting for Daft Punk to come on...

Daft Punk

No doubt one of the best (if not the best) concerts I've ever had the pleasure of watching. These Frenchman (or their stand-ins) sure have their formula down and they know how to make a huge audience rage the party. The Close Encounters theme signaled their arrival, the pyramid lit up, and the robots melted face.

Also, props are due to the Lolla team for hooking up excellent sound.

Mwahahaha!

Daft Punk/The Rapture After Party
