Because the members of the bands have busy lives -- families, other bands, and other jobs [Dan Yemin is actually a psychologist], the band doesn't feel it is "realistic" to tour the way some younger bands do.
Good for them -- I have a theory that a lot of bands burn out and suffer from "exhaustion" because they spend 2-6 months touring non-stop and the members have no semblance of a normal life.
The band's current tour is a ten-day long trek that begins today. Yemin told Billboard, "We do it in a more limited, intense fashion. Like this April tour, we're covering 4,500 miles in 10 days. That's what we're capable of doing at this point, but we really feel like it's better than not doing it."
As for the band's decision to, after so many years, record a new album, Yemin explained the band didn't want to stagnate. "If you keep playing the old stuff and don't do anything new, you're reduced to the status of a cover band. That's where musicians go to die. It's not the kind of experience I want to have much to do with."
Lifetime's new album was released last month of Fueled By Ramen.
