First it was reported that Michael Jackson might get his own Vegas show, Wayne Newton-style. Now, a Vegas company is considering building a 50 foot robotic replica of Jackson in the desert just outside the city.

I wish I was making this next quote up, but sadly, I'm not. This is straight from the New York Daily News:

"It would be in the desert sands," said Mike Luckman of Luckman Van Pier, a Las Vegas entertainment consulting company. "Laser beams would shoot out of it so it would be the first thing people flying would see. Neon is wonderful, but it's old school."

Luckman added, "Michael's looked at the sketches and likes them."

Reportedly, Jackson has purchased a house in Las Vegas and is working out the details of a long-term Vegas show, similar to what Celine Dion has done. Even stranger, Paul McCartney might be a financial backer for the show. Though Paul refuses to comment on the situation, the Daily News reports that McCartney was impressed with the Cirque de Soleil Beatles show and may consider investing in a Jackson show.

You know what? I support this idea. Not the statue, but the show. In Las Vegas, Jackson probably wouldn't be one of the top 100 sketchiest people. Not sure he'd even crack the 20% percentile. This could be good for him.
