In a real twist, Snoop has brought a case AGAINST another party (Priority Records) and has ended his streak of having cases brought against him. There was an initial bump in the road, though, when Judge Helen I. Bendix didn't know who was stepping into her courtroom.
She told the AP, "Now I realize who we're talking about here. I didn't recognize the nonprofessional name, so to speak." Man, that's awesome. I guess not everybody does recognize his nerdy name (which is, in full, Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr.).
Snoop is alleging that the label owns him flow from his greatest hits CD and 2000's The Last Meal. I would argue that Snoop owes money to anyone that actually bought The Last Meal.
Priority is claiming that the charges have come too late. But, come on, dude has been busy with like 300 other court cases. Give him a break.
As of now, Judge Bendix has recommended both sides utilize the court's evaluation service that will "give both sides a neutral idea of strengths and weaknesses of their case before it heads to trial."
One can only hope that if it does go to trial, Snoop asks Bendix the following question over and over again:
