Jay-Z is rubberneckin' to get his name on the New Jersey Nets' arena. The Rocawear mogul is in negotiation discussions for naming rights to the Meadowlands arena. Jay-Z also has an upper hand in the fight - he owns a portion of the Nets. What does Jay-Z not own a portion of?
The arena is currently "in the hands" of Continental Airlines, but the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority hopes to have a new name by October 4. If Jay wins, he'll have naming rights for two years, until the Nets head to Brooklyn in 2009.
Jay has been in headlines often the last week because he's planning a new album release to coincide with the upcoming Ridley Scott movie, American Gangster. In fact, Jay just released the trailer to his album, due for release in early November.
