Jada was arrested last October in Yonkers when cops smelled marijuana in the Toyota Camry he and two friends were in. A search produced a loaded .38 caliber handgun in the car's center console and all three men were charged with criminal weapons possession.
The Journal News reports today that prosecutors in the case took DNA samples from all three men to match against sweat samples found on the gun, but that test results were inconclusive. Authorities have decided to press on with the case regardless.
Jada's lawyer, Clement Patti was nonplussed:
He had no knowledge of the gun in the car. They're saying that there's a presumption (of possession) ... but with no fingerprints, (others') DNA, in the interest of justice they should dismiss the charges.
The next court date in the matter has been planned for next month.
