I, personally, love this issue, and look forward to it every year. Having been a reader of Alternative Press since I was 12 or so, begging my mom to take me to the store to buy a magazine, I'm always interested in what they have to say about music that's coming out. This year's list, though, is fairly interesting -- oif only because I have a significant portion of these bands on my iPod already. I feel like maybe they could have dug a bit deeper [for example, where is You, Me, and Everyone We Know or Our Last Night?]... but hey. Last year's list, which you can see here, was also somewhat old news, even though the only band that really broke big was The Almost.
Interesting note this year: Cute is What We Aim For, who I fully expect to become a bigger deal in 2008, isn't on this list. Since they were on in 2006 and 2007, I figured they'd be included again, with a "third time's a charm" disclaimer.
Anyway, here's the list, typed up neatly for your discussing pleasure. I've added comments where I just couldn't contain myself.

So there you have it... 2008's bands you need to know, according to Alternative Press. Chances are you know a lot of them already, and have heard of most of the others, aside from the few that they put in there to please the pretentious dudes over at Pitchfork, who I really would like to have a feud with, as a side note. Feel free to discuss these bands, your thoughts, and who you think people need to know this year, as well. I didn't type that whole list up for no reason, you know.
