In the past week, we've covered Mexico and Australia, and now we're back to the United States where ex-Guns N Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has thrown his own little bitchfest about emo. Is this where I get to make a snarky comment about how hard Velvet Revolver sucks? Or do I just get to mock Slash's Snakepit? I just want to be sure on the proper etiquette....

Slash's problem is a lack of solos. I suppose when that's pretty much your thing, you would hate a lack of guitar solos, though the truth is, I don't think music is lacking because less people are wailing on a guitar for minutes at a time, showing off. Oooh, you can play a solo. You're talented, sure, but you're boring.

Slash said:

Rock ’n’ roll is so diluted in this millennium, you just don’t hear good solos. And I hate Emo.

I suppose I'd hate something that, in part, made my music largely irrelevant, too.

Slash did praise on Jack White, saying he was a great guitarist [no kidding], and said Muse can "really play," but then said they're not "proper rock n roll." If anyone else is wondering if they qualify as "proper rock and roll," feel free to send a demo to Slash. I'm sure he'll let you know -- after he yells as you damned kids to get off his lawn, tells you about the "good old days," and reminisces about how Jack Daniels used to cost less than $20 per bottle.
