Glassjaw are sort of like the punk rock Guns 'N Roses. You get excited when they announce a show, but deep down, you know it will probably be canceled. The July 13th show in California, announced yesterday, is not happening. To the shock of nobody.
The band sent the following out via MySpace:
Yesterday we posted a bulletin regarding Glassjaw playing at the venue. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the show has been canceled. The band have expressed that they will be rescheduling the date for sometime in the near future. Not to worry. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
It's kind of hilarious, playing the "will Glassjaw make it to the show?" game. You can also play the same game with Head Automatica, but that's less amusing because they haven't been around for a couple of decades, hence, it's harder to yell "get it together, guys!" at them.
pixie's official punk rock credibility moment of the day: I used to see these guys play in high school gyms and random places around Long Island when I was in high school. My first boyfriend's band even opened for them. Oddly, they were better at making shows back then -- when they got paid in pizza and soda -- than they are now -- when they actually get money.
