The long-awaited debut of Gerard's comic, which features art by Gabriel Ba, is finally here, as "The Umbrella Academy" #1 is in stores today.
The story follows a team of superheroes who were raised by an eccentric adoptive father, coming together to save the world after learning of his death. The series will run for six issues, and is being released by Dark Horse Comics.
Gerard is celebrating the release of his comic in New York City today, doing a signing at Forbidden Planet in NYC. The limited-to-200, ticketed event, "sold out" rather quickly on Monday, when the tickets became available. He is also doing a similarly limited signing in Boston, MA tomorrow.
