I'm pretty sure she had a clue.
In a recent radio interview, George spoke some more about AIDS, saying:
AIDS was the predominant feature of being gay in the 1980s and early 1990s as far as any parent was concerned. "My mother was still alive and every single day would have been a nightmare for her thinking what I might have been subjected to.
George recently revealed he won't get tested for the disease because he's afraid he may have it.
One can't help but wonder why he's constantly talking about AIDS these days. Here's hoping he's doing well, and doesn't actually have the disease. Not that he'd know for sure, either way.
What insanity, in this day and age....
