Earlier today, George Michael was sentenced to 100 hours of community service stemming from a DUI arrest and subsequent guilty plea. Michael had passed out in the car in the middle of the road, but blamed the incident on "tiredness and prescribed drugs."

Michael will also lose his driving privileges for two years as part of the verdict. This, however, will allow him to play tomorrow night's re-opening of Wembley Stadium as scheduled.

In other news, George Michael has said that people only bash him because they are jealous of his lifestyle.

According to the Post Chronicle, Michael said, "I think at the end of it all I represent something profoundly different for society."

He continued:

I have grown up surrounded by people who think that sex, drugs and rock n' roll is compatible with a working life while being married with children. During the 1980s, my generation and the one after me, found that was impossible.

Me, I don't want any children, I don't want responsibility. I am gay, I smoke weed and I do exactly what I want in my life because of my talent. I represent an ideal which others have had to let go and they blame me for that. Especially men.

I think what he meant to say was, "Don't hate the player, hate the game." I agree with Michael. I mean, I don't want to roofie myself, pass out in the middle of the street and then solicit an undercover cop in a public bathroom, per se. But he is living his dream, and I can respect that.
